I would create a vistual world for  dating at baruch. you would only be  able to sign up if you go to  baruch and you are able to form groups of frineds throughout this program so that frineds of frineds can contact you. If they see your face or they hear you talkig to your frineds in the world they would be able to come up to you and talk to you. and not just for dating but it can also be used as a way for you to communicate with your teachers or to see if they are in the bulding at certain hours

I would create an instant messaging system for Baruch’s administration office and students to communicate with each other. When students for example have a question when registering for class or trouble with financial aid, instead of lining up at their office or emailing Baruch staff, one can send an instant message to them and get immediate response. By having an instant messaging system will cause great convenience for both the staff and Baruch students. If this were to happen, more questions will be answered and there will be less miscommunication between students and staff.

Wiki- So far

I havent done anything on wifi yet, but i have been doing research on a few topics that i plan on working on, i plan on picking one and sticking to it i just havent decided which one. one things that i have been researching is food and hospitality, i have always loved to go out to dinner and experence new restaurants so i thought it owuld be something interesting that i looked into. something else that i was considering was doing the topic about love, i have been doing research on otehr dating website that arent popular yet. and the last thing that i was considering was toys, I was a kid once and i loved being able to find the new toy speacailly with the holidays coming up. those are some of the ideas that i have.

P2P File Sharing

Before reading these articles I didn’t know what PEP as, or filing sharing. File sharing is the ability to transfer files or information from one computer to another over the Internet or a network. It also lets you share music and movies. PEP stands for peer-to-peer file. Which is the distribution and sharing photos and media using the P2P method. When first read the article by Wendy, it made me understand PEP a lot better, the example that she used was a company who was making loans through the internet, and the reason that they mad such a good business on the internet was because the customer was able to receive a lower interest rate than they would at a bank. The company lending loans has been making “800million dollars and is expecting to make 2 billion the upcoming year”.

Advice

If i was to create a new media to help make baruch a better university one of the things that i would do is give students more of an interaction in an online class. and be able to video chat with yor classmates, and be able to get to know them so that you feel confident enough to email one of them to ask them for a question.  another thing that i would love to create would be in making some sort a program to help students get the classes that are very hard to get into because they are the first onces to go, the program would make a priority list of people that need those classes and are closer to graduate to be able to get those classes. i know that is a far stretch but i think that getting classes that you need is very difficult ad if they created something that can help that. it would make the university a lot better.

Privacy & Confidentiality

Having privacy through new media is pretty hard now a days.  there are many websites around the internet that you are not able to trust but are precieved as a good website. There are ways that your computer gets virursus through the websites that you look at and than once you look at that one website you recieve more advertising from the same catgory that you were looking at before. On mynay websites that you choice to go onm you are required to have a log in intoformation, which in the ends means that they can send you a million emails and they are all spam.  when you order thigns from an online website you never know if its from a reliable website or not, yes of course you can tell the different between some of them but you can still be stumped. Gives people the ability to steal your credit card information. the internet is not private at all.

Creativity

There are many ways in which people use new media to create something different. I am a big fan of watching YouTube videos. And the YouTube videos that are being re created with songs that we know today I think is very cool. Not only does it make the song better but the animation that are sued during it are amazing. The re cartooned Disney videos are so funny, and amusing. The way that they changed the way that the cartoons dance and move is so creative to me. There are so many things that are being re- created and I find that the new things bring something different to the table.

Modeling Reality with Virtual Worlds

Virtual world is a computer-based system where you are able to be in a 3D world, which as an environmental look to it. The virtual world gives you the opportunity to be able to use your imagination and build a world where that you imagine. The beginning of the virtual world starts with companies for example IBM they are using the virtual world to be able to bring many people together without having to fly everyone out and meet somewhere. Instead they are able to meet in a virtual world, in which is based on what they want it to look like. And you are able to come up with ideas and brainstorm all together in one environment but not being together. Another Virtual world in the gamer world, which gives the gamer the ability to create anything in a world that they want. They are able to create creatures, and how they interact with the person that is playing the game.

The pros that come with the virtual world, is that you are able to use your imagination and take it to the next level, you have the ability to create anything that you want, anywhere. There is no end to what you can create and what you can imagine which I think is one of the greatest things. You are also able to meet people from different places and have an interaction with them. For business its an amazing way, when people are part of a company and have to all be at one place the virtual world makes that happen and doesn’t make people move from where they are sitting. Some cons that I think the virtual world has is that, sometimes living or creating a virtual world, you might loose what the real world has to offer. The face to face communication that you engage in other people is every important specially in a business world.

I think that in the future of the virtual world, its going to be something that I cant even imagine, you will probably be able to walk in through your computer and maybe be able to live in that world for sometime. The virtual world will be able to give us things that the real world might not be able to give us at that time. Which is very crazy to believe in.

Blog about Twitter

Having a conversation on twitter and on blackboard is very different. You are only able to use 140 characters on twitter, which to me is a very short conversation. On twitter you are able to retweet others tweets, and reply to there tweet, but I don’t think that’s a way to go back and forth with someone in a conversation setting’s, I think that blackboard is a better way for someone to have a back and forth conversation in the sense that you are able to actually type as much as you want. It gives people the chance to respond to at any time they want and be able to see what others think. I think that in class discussion is the best, you are able to talk to someone face to face, and are able to see there reactions to the conversation. The word that people say can be misconstrued through the Internet but when you are speaking to someone in person the right words might not come out but you can express them in a different way and the person will be able to understand.
